Several groups out in the a.m and p.m. Evening fishing was deemed to be more desirable and put forth more fish. After Thursdays storm, fish moved out to deeper water and did not seem quite as interested in the bite. Having to work a little harder and fight the night wind, the catch was considerably smaller. The tackle used again being Glow tungsten. Fishing the buoys (North & Indian Pete), and Upper (Wilson Hill, Victory Park) seem to be the most common and popular areas to fish. The ice is said to be 4-8 inches. Fishermen said to be venturing to the west (Narrows area). Ice said to be much more sketchy in this area.
Please remember the reports are given to me by area fisher men and I am in no way saying that the ice on Hamlin Lake is safe.
We remind you to use caution and common sense. Take your spud (safety pack) with you, and fish with a buddy. Wishing you a happy safe fishing season with a bounty of fish. Bring your fish by for a picture, tell me you big fish stories or woes. I will vicariously fish through your stories and reports. Wax worms , Spikes, Mousies Perch minnows , and Golden Shiners now available in the bait ship. Fish, fish . Fish !!!! Stay posted for the next fishing report. Watch for registry for Hamlin Hookers 5th annual fishing tournament taking place on Sat Feb 7th. Kids tournament Feb. 8th

Time again for the daily fishing reports. Fishermen have been out on Hamlin Lake for about the last four weeks. Being on the cautious side I chose to wait to give my reports, siding with safety.

Jan.8th was a blustery day with zero visibility.
Was surprised to hear from area fisherman "Troy" that he had ventured out. After about two hours of fishing, he returned with his limit of bluegill. Said he fished in the upper Hamlin area in about 8 ft. of water, ice said to be four plus inches. Fishing just off the bottom he used a tungsten jig (glow red tiger), with wax-worm. Conditions were not favorable or ideal but I think this fisherman enjoyed the challenge and thrill of Mother Natures fury.
Have fun, be safe !

Another night of successful fishing on Upper Hamlin. Limits being caught of bluegill & crappie. Was a little cold and windy , but over-all......a good night.
Fishing in the narrows/ Indian Pete area, 2 ft. off the bottom, using glow tungsten . If you plan to take a quad or motor vehicle out please use caution and check the Wilson Park launch first. Lincoln Rd.access is in very poor condition and really should be avoided. It would be wise to bring along creepers or safety treads for your boots as it is very slippery, again .....use caution!
